Texas Petrochemicals deploys Oracle Enterprise Asset Management
REDWOOD SHORES, California (November 7, 2002) - Texas Petrochemicals, a provider of specialty chemicals and fuel products utilizing C4 hydrocarbons, has deployed the Oracle Enterprise Asset Management solution to proactively manage its manufacturing equipment.

According to the partnering companies, Oracle Enterprise Asset Management, a part of the Oracle E-Business Suite, is currently being used to enable Texas Petrochemicals to optimize resource utilization, including labor assignment, materials requisitioning and subcontracting, to facilitate an expected increase in overall operating productivity over time. With the Oracle Enterprise Asset Management scheduling and work management tools, Texas Petrochemicals said it will gain timely information to better manage maintenance activities and enable reduced capital expenditures and overall lowered maintenance costs.

"Texas Petrochemicals is now enabled with a comprehensive maintenance management program that is fully integrated with our Oracle 11i Financial suite," said David Lummus, Director of Maintenance, Texas Petrochemicals. "Oracle Enterprise Asset Management gives us the ability to leverage information technology for planning, cost control and performance analysis that could not be achieved with our previous system."

Under the terms of the agreement, Oracle Enterprise Asset Management also is expected to help Texas Petrochemicals augment its work safety procedures by providing the basis to track key regulatory compliance information via Enterprise Asset Management's data collection process. These processes are designed to help minimize production downtime, accidents and lost profits from production outages.

"Oracle Enterprise Asset Management is the most comprehensive solution for helping companies increase productivity while decreasing maintenance costs," said Rick Jewell, Oracle Vice President, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Execution Applications. "Because Oracle Enterprise Asset Management is tightly integrated with the Oracle E-Business Suite, companies can use it as a complete solution, or they can integrate with their existing applications such as finance, procurement or human resources, with little effort."

Texas Petrochemicals said it went live on Oracle Enterprise Asset Management with Oracle Financials and Oracle Purchasing in less than four months after purchasing the software. In addition, Oracle Process Manufacturing, Oracle iProcurement, and Oracle Human Resources and Payroll are currently being deployed by the company.
