Piedmont Plastics Selects Adonix X3 Enterprise Management System
PITTSBURGH--June 11, 2001--One of the largest plastics distributor and fabricator in the United States will now be able to manage its product inventories more efficiently. Piedmont Plastics has selected Adonix X3 as its enterprise management suite.
"As a plastics distributor and fabricator of semi-finished plastic shapes, we have special requirements for managing sales and conversion of dimensional inventories," said Marc Klinger, manager of information technology for Piedmont Plastics. "Adonix X3 was the only product we looked at that offered a workable solution for our business model." Dimensional inventory capabilities enable distributors to verify inventory of a particular product in standard stock as well as remnant inventory. With Adonix X3, if a customer wants less than a full sheet of a particular material, Piedmont can readily check its inventory to see if there are any remnant sheets available that can be used before selecting standard product. Efficient management of dimensional and standard inventory is paramount to Piedmont's business. "We conducted an exhaustive evaluation of software solutions over more than a year," said Klinger. "Adonix X3 had the best combination of manufacturing, distribution, accounting and e-business features." Piedmont Plastics distributes, converts and fabricates plastic sheet, rod, tube and film to customer specifications. It sells to manufacturers across a wide spectrum of industries including marine, medical, graphic arts, construction and signage. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, the company operates four manufacturing sites and 17 distribution centers in the southeast, mid-Atlantic and Midwest. The Adonix X3 enterprise application suite is specially designed for midsize companies, those with sales from $10 to $500 million. It is one of the few systems targeted for this market that provide an open architecture to support e-business. The product suite integrates all the functions of business operations into one comprehensive system to ensure seamless information flow within a company and with its business partners. It includes modules for manufacturing, sales, purchasing, inventory control, warehouse management, quality control and accounting. ERPNet, Inc., a Charlotte, North Carolina-based Adonix value-added reseller, managed the sale of Adonix X3 to Piedmont. Adonix develops fully integrated, e-business-enabled manufacturing, distribution and financial software. Its product, Adonix X3, is suited for discrete, process and mixed-mode manufacturers and distributors. It is especially designed for the make-to-order, configure-to-order, assemble-to-order, make-to-stock and batch manufacturing environments. Adonix gives midsize companies the same functionality and technology that large corporations require--without the complexity and at an attractive price. The company supports more than 4,000 customer installations worldwide through a network of independent sales and service organizations.
