National Iranian Oil Company -- NIOC -- Moves for Better Asset Utilization & Reduction of Operating Costs With Hyprotech
BARCELONA, Spain--April 24, 2001-- Exclusive Contract Will Implement a Comprehensive, Company-Wide Engineering Software Frame Including State-of-the-Art Steady State & Dynamic Simulation, Equipment Design, Process Improvement and Optimization
Hyprotech Europe Ltd. and the National Iranian Oil Corporation (NIOC) today announced a 20-year licensing agreement for the HYSYS suite of simulation software products. The agreement covers the use of all HYSYS applications for steady state and dynamic simulation as an exclusive standard tool for the company. It also includes other tools from Hyprotech's comprehensive portfolio for equipment design (HTFS), energy -- efficiency improvement, specialized and in-depth Process optimization tools. The agreement is the result of nearly 2 years of intensive evaluation of features by NIOC, based on more than 25 years of NIOC's accumulated process simulation knowledge. With this agreement, NIOC, the state-owned petroleum group, has renovated its engineering tools, which leads them to move towards better asset utilization and reducing operating costs, thus stepping into a more flexible operation and turning international opportunities into profit. It is the outcome of a more flexible and open architecture system. H. Talebi, director of computer and information technology (IT) at NIOC, commented: "We have had in mind the future expansion of the platform for more advanced simulation applications like operator training, online optimization, engineering work process re-engineering, and e-business, all based on Hyprotech's excellent graphical user interface, reliable simulation performance and open architecture." HYSYS is acknowledged as the leading commercially available integrated simulation environment designed for complete user customization. This enables the seamless integration of data from NIOC's operations and other applications to create a powerful hybrid program, allowing full leverage from NIOC's engineering software investment. Added H. Talebi: "Our purchase of this simulation software will give us the ability step up to the latest technologies while incorporating into the new system all our in-house knowledge, already licensed Technology and best business practices." The implementation and arrival of Hyprotech's leading technology into NIOC represents an important milestone in the process of renovation of the Iranian refining, gas processing and petrochemicals industries. Commenting on the contract, Salvador Clave, chief operating officer of Hyprotech, said: "We are very pleased that NIOC, one of the major oil, gas and petrochemical companies in the Middle East, has selected Hyprotech products and solutions as their standard tools. This contract demonstrates our long-term commitment to providing advance process simulation solutions to the Iranian petroleum industry to ensure profit improvement based on these simulation capabilities." Using the features of HYSYS, process modeling can be used to ensure proper and optimum equipment selection to meet design specifications, correct evaluations of feed changes, upsets and equipment downtime, safety, reliability and profitability throughout the plant lifecycle. About HYSYS and HTFS HYSYS is a powerful, reputable tool that helps managers and engineers link critical business objectives to the design of new plants, or the revamp and evaluation of existing plants. With HYSYS, engineers only need to develop a single process model that can be used from conceptual design through on-line applications to improve designs, optimize production and enhance decision-making. HTFS offers customers the widest range of heat transfer software available. This offers a dramatic reduction in the time required to perform thermal and mechanical design giving confidence in design by using software based upon over 30 years of HTFS research. Both products are able to be used simultaneously adding to the benefits of having in-house data integrate with HYSYS products or a third party program.
