Magnequench Introduces New MQP-S-9-8 Spherical Isotropic Powder
ANDERSON, Ind.--June 14, 2001--Magnequench Inc.(R) (MQI), a global industry-leading supplier of permanent magnets materials and magnetic systems, is proud to announce its release of a new spherical isotropic powder product MQP(TM)-S-9-8.
This unique powder product is a result of a three-year joint development effort with Ervin Industries, Inc. (Ann Arbor, MI). MQP(TM)-S-9-8, the first grade of the MQP(TM)-S product line, is now available for customer sampling and is currently available in commercial quantities. MQP(TM)-S-9-8 spherical isotropic powder provides exceptional physical properties ideal for major manufacturers of plastic injection molded magnet parts, as well as manufacturers of calendared or extruded flexible magnets. This new line of materials offers significantly different physical characteristics that enable improved flow of polymer bonded compounds, thereby enhancing the ability to make very fine, sharply defined products. Tool and machine life are also extended. With this fine particle-sized material (mean size is approximately 50 micrometers vs. 150 micrometers for current melt spun products) improved dimensional tolerance, excellent thermal stability, resistance to corrosion and better flux uniformity is delivered. In addition, it is possible to mix MQP(TM)-S-9-8 powder with hard-ferrite powders to create hybrid NdFeB products, or with various binders to produce thick and thin film products. The MQP(TM)-S product line will open new markets to higher energy product bonded magnets. The permanent magnet market has grown at 10% per year for six decades. Currently the injection-molded market has grown in excess of 20% per year with applications in segments as Automotive, Consumer Electronics, Office Automation, Hard Disk Drive, Factory Automation, Medical Equipment and Consumer Appliances. Magnequench, Inc. is the leader in innovation in the Neodymium-Iron-Boron magnet market. The world-leading producer of neodymium magnetic powders and magnets, Magnequench offers a wide array of magnetic products from MQP(TM) powders to bonded and metal Neo magnets to value-added subassemblies for many high growth applications. Through acquisitions made in 2000, Magnequench also supplies bonded ferrite, AlNico, and SmCo magnetic materials. These products are critical to the designated performance of some of today's most common technological products. Magnequench products offer superior performance characterizations such as: ease of use; lower cost of manufacturing; significant size, strength, and weight advantages; and both compression and injection molding capabilities. Magnequench provides state-of-the-art, magnetic energy solutions for a wide range of industries including appliance, automotive, computer and office automation, consumer electronics, factory automation/industrial, and medical.
