IFS Signs Contract with World's Leading Supplier of White Pigments
CHICAGO--July 3, 2001-- Imerys North American Pigments and Additives Group chooses IFS Applications(TM) software as the core business system for its process manufacturing facilities.
IFS has signed a contract with Imerys North American Pigments and Additives Group to provide business software and services.

Imerys' Pigments and Additives Group is the world's leading supplier of kaolin and calcium carbonate for use as fillers and coatings in paper and as performance enhancers in plastics, adhesives, paints, rubber and sealants. The process manufacturer will implement IFS' software to support its North American headquarters in Atlanta and production facilities in the United States and Mexico.

Earlier this year, IFS signed a separate contract to provide business software and services to portions of Imerys' process manufacturing operations in the United Kingdom and Europe.

The North American Pigments and Additives Group will implement IFS components for its core business processes, including financials, supply chain management, manufacturing, engineering and e-business.

David Shea, vice president of information technology for Imerys Pigments and Additives globally, said, "IFS met the essential requirements for a new business system -- an integrated set of modules for the entire enterprise, incremental deployment to minimize disruption, and scalable software capable of rapid change without excessive reconfiguration.

"Of equal importance was the ability to interface with multiple legacy systems. Because IFS can integrate to our existing technology, we're not forced to abandon everything."

Terje Vangbo, president and chief executive officer for IFS North America, said, "Whether a discrete manufacturing or process environment, IFS makes it easy for businesses to evolve to the latest technology without radical change.

"IFS' open architecture and componentization gives the software extreme flexibility for scalability, integration with systems of all types, and step-by-step implementation."

Imerys, based in France, is the world leader in minerals processing. It operates 250 manufacturing and sales sites in 32 countries. The company has four business groups: Pigments & Additives, Building Materials, Refractories & Abrasives, and Ceramics & Specialties.
