DuPont implements collaborative commerce application
HOUSTON (June 12, 2001) – DuPont Cyrel (www.dupont.com/cyrel), a division of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and a leading manufacturers of flexographic printing systems, has implemented a collaborative commerce and planning application using software from EC Outlook.
The application enables DuPont Cyrel customers to automate entry of orders directly into DuPont Cyrel's ERP system, eliminating purchasing and inventory-related calls and faxes. High-volume customers can access critical shipment status information at their convenience, resulting in time efficiencies and increased accuracy. The application also allows DuPont to manage inventory for its repeat customers.
"EC Outlook's application has transformed our collaborative commerce program from being time- and labor-intensive to being efficient, highly automated and customer friendly," said Christine Allison, Six Sigma project leader for DuPont Cyrel. "The program frees up our customer service resources to focus on strengthening relationships with customers instead of manual order processing." Since EC Outlook's applications support many levels of connectivity, DuPont Cyrel said it can connect to all its customers regardless of their technology capabilities. "The simplicity of EC Outlook's application is a major benefit to our customers and their trading partners," said Matt Verghese, President and COO of EC Outlook. "DuPont is rapidly implementing this application without invasive software requirements to their partners." DuPont Cyrel customers provide on-hand inventory positions and future forecasts to DuPont's Cyrel Online. Automated inventory replenishment logic assists DuPont's customer service representatives (CSRs) in making informed decisions about the quantity of product to ship to a given customer. DuPont Cyrel's ERP system responds to orders with acknowledgements, advance ship notices, goods receipts and invoices, returning these documents to Cyrel Online for review by the customer. In the past, technical complexities and cost have prevented many companies from offering true collaborative commerce and planning. Even if the supplier has the financial means and the technical capabilities, customers have not been willing to make the needed investment. EC Outlook's managed services and software, which require no cash buy-in or additional hardware or software installations by the customer, successfully address these issues. EC Outlook offers several supply chain applications, including Vendor Managed Inventory, Electronic Order Management, Shipment Track and Trace, Transportation Order Management and Commerce Analyzer for business analytics.
