CDEX Inc. Introduces New Member to the Board of Directors
ROCKVILLE, Md.-- Nov. 5, 2001--Today CDEX Inc., a Nevada Corporation announced the addition of Dr. B.D Liaw to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Liaw, a United States citizen who currently resides in his native Taiwan, joins Malcolm Philips and George Dials on the CDEX Board. Dr. Liaw will assist in guiding CDEX in its development of applications of the chemical detection technology CDEX purchased from Loch Harris of Austin Texas (OTC: LOCH), including applications related to antiterrorism and the semiconductor industry. Information on CDEX's proprietary technology may be found on the CDEX Web Site (www.CDEX-inc.com) with an overview of technology status in a White Paper published October 22. Dr. Liaw has a Masters degree in Structural Engineering and a PhD in Engineering Mechanics from Okalahoma State University. Beginning in 1974, Dr. Liaw served over 20 years at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and it's predecessor agency, the Atomic Energy Commission. During this time, Dr. Liaw served in technical and management positions of increasing responsibility throughout the Commission. As the Director of the NRC's specially created TVA Project Division, Dr. Liaw had a leading role in recovering the Tennessee Valley Authority's nuclear program, culminating in restarts of the Sequoyah and Browns Ferry Nuclear Plants, and the eventual licensing of the Watts Barr Nuclear Plant. In 1986 and 1987, Dr. Liaw was invited by China and Taiwan, respectively, to assist in establishing their nuclear safety regulatory programs. In 1994, Dr. Liaw was invited to visit Taiwan to work with its Government to resolve issues related to the country's energy resources. Subsequently, in 1995 upon his retirement from the NRC, Dr. Liaw was requested to come to Taiwan as an advisor to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. In that position he has provided services to Taiwan in a number of areas, including as an Executive Member of the Board of Directors for Taiwan Power Company and as a member of the Industrial Advisory Group for the Industrial Technology Research Institute. Says Malcolm Philips, CEO of CDEX Inc., "Dr. Liaw brings a strong voice not only in the nuclear industry, but also in the Asian market for innovative applications of the technologies CDEX is and will be developing. Moreover, he brings to our Board know-how in managing large, successful technical projects. This addition is critical as we focus our efforts on applying our chemical detection technology to new, complex markets such as antiterrorism and the semiconductor industry." Any forward-looking statements or implications made herein are based on current expectations of CDEX and involve a number of significant risks and uncertainties and should not be considered as guarantees or assurances of future performance. The factors that could cause actual results to differ materially include, but are not limited to: interruptions, breach or cancellation of existing contracts, impact of competitive products and pricing, product demand and market acceptance risks, the presence of competitors with greater financial or other resources than CDEX, product development and commercialization risks, an inability to arrange additional debt or equity financing or to retain or procure necessary personnel and an inability to obtain necessary governmental or other approvals for proposed or anticipated transactions. Air Products: Tight deadlines, big requirementsPHILADELPHIA – When David Beltz, Manager of B2B integration services for Air Products and Chemicals, wants to determine which e-channels to use to connect with a customer, he uses a simple two-by-two grid that ranks a customer’s technical sophistication against its network potential. To the Editor,As you rightly point out in your Oct 25 editorial entitled "Win/Win, Lose/Lose," the marketing spin and posturing of public marketplaces and consortia in the chemical industry are being tested by end users that want to maintain their competitive edge and receive a fast ROI. To the Editor,My views might not be considered neutral, with OxyChem's equity participation in Envera, but "Hub-to-Hub" connectivity was always in Envera's plans. As a founding Envera member and as an early adopter of B2B connectivity utilizing XML (in production since November 1999) OxyChem strongly endorses the need for "Hub-to-Hub" connectivity, both inter- and intra-Industry. Consider the real flywheel effects of connecting two hubs within the Chemical sector.
