BP Solvay Polyethylene North America Names Foster Brown President
HOUSTON--Nov. 1, 2001--Foster Brown has been named president of BP Solvay Polyethylene North America, a new joint venture for the production of high density polyethylene (HDPE) between Solvay Polymers Inc. and BP Amoco Polymers Inc., effective Nov. 1, 2001.
Mr. Brown joined Solvay in 1990. He has held positions as polyethylene business manager for Solvay Polymers Inc.; manager of finance planning for Solvay America Inc.; chief financial officer of Solvay Automotive Inc.; and president of Solvay Interox Inc. in Houston, Texas. Most recently, Mr. Brown was global general manager for Solvay Interox headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Harvard. BP Solvay Polyethylene North America combines the worldwide strengths of two industrial leaders to make the new joint venture a powerful global presence in the high density polyethylene industry. BP Solvay Polyethylene and its European affiliates constitute the third largest HDPE producer in the world, with six production sites in Europe and the United States, and a total capacity of 4.6 billion pounds per year.
