AspenTech releases Aspen Capable-to-Promise
CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (September 24, 2001) – Aspen Technology (aspentech.com) has announced the release of its Aspen Capable-to-Promise, a supply chain and e-business solution designed to allow process manufacturers to streamline and optimize their sales order commitment process.

According to AspenTech, the new Web application also is designed to enable manufacturers’ customer service representatives to make immediate responses to sales requests by offering them accurate data, including inventory, current production schedule and customer order forecasts.

The application is designed to offer process companies the ability to: Make reliable capacity and material-capable customer promises based on the actual state of manufacturing plants and current production schedules; make decisions based on user-defined business rules that can be customer and/or manufacturing equipment specific; consider alternate sourcing locations; and recommend alternate products or if the requested product is not available, substitute it with an approved alternative

“The ability for manufacturers to have visibility into inventory as well as available manufacturing capacity, coupled with a powerful analytical decision support capability, is a compelling value proposition,” said Mary Palermo, co-Chief Operating Officer of AspenTech. “Aspen Capable-to-Promise can create tremendous value for process manufacturers by helping them to exceed customer service expectations.”

The solution is currently being rolled out by several chemical and food processing companies across US, Europe and Asia.
